I think art is a salve that heals an ailing world. Think of the troubles and strife going on world-wide, in most every country. There seems to be no peace among people anymore. This is one big thing I miss about being so restricted these days is the collaboration with other artist/teachers in our TCOE area. When we get together, we talk and breathe art. Seldom does our conversation wander from our communal passion – ART!
Of all the historical contributions over the centuries, think for a moment of the beautiful art and music we have to enjoy. We are blessed with statements of beauty that will live on forever in our minds as a reminder of different times and people of totally different life styles and mindsets. Each one has left us with a legacy of their own.
Perhaps your art contribution will also be a legacy for future generations to enjoy. Something of you left to say to those people of the future; I was here and this is what I did for you! All of your artwork is a legacy, or statement of you and by you. No one else can take credit for it.
If your artwork evolves over time which it would normally do, this shows growth and change in you. Your artwork will reflect what is going on in your life and times. If it were not for artwork in history, we would be missing out on a lot. Before words were even thought of, there was artwork. We look to this art work to learn about those people and their lives. It is the only record we have of many long lost civilizations.
Next time you paint, sculpt, write, or play music, think of the legacies we are leaving for the future. You can be proud to say this is what I did for myself, and for you.
