The area of principles is the “how-to” group of instructions. In other words, how will you put those elements to work with one another to create a composition, feeling, or essence of an artwork.

This is where there are a lot of gray areas where the principles seem to blend not only into one another, but also into the elements. You will soon learn how some of these elements cannot stand alone without the principles. A good example of this would be something that has a “textured” (Element) surface. Texture, the element, is created by adding pattern which is a principle. All of these amazing elements and principles work in a beautifully orchestrated tangent of visual marks. You will be both surprised and amazed at how integrated they are when you start understanding the purpose of this learning.
